What we do

Strip, restore,
finish.

Three trades, one bench. Every paint stripping job at Double Dipper is done by Daniel. By hand, in the bath, and finished ready to live with again.

What we do

Reclaimed window frames stacked at the workshop, each one carrying layers of old paint, waiting to be stripped back to bare timber
01Wood

Doors, furniture& reclaimed pine.

From a single Victorian door to a fleet of Yorkshire pine, every wood piece arrives covered in lifetimes of paint and lacquer. We strip them back by hand or in the bath, neutralise, dry, and return them ready to receive their next finish. Sometimes nine layers deep.

How it works

Five steps, one craftsman.

From drop-off to collection.

  1. 01

Drop in or send a photo

WhatsApp Daniel a photo of the piece, or bring it to Crossley Mills. Within 1–2 working days you'll have a price and a timing.

  2. 02

    Strip & neutralise

Hand-stripped or bath-dipped depending on the piece. Paint, varnish, lacquer, plastic coatings, powder coating, sometimes nine layers deep.

  3. 03

    Sand & repair

If requested, sanding and smoothing reveals the true grain. Small repairs (splits, missing detail) addressed at the bench.

  4. 04

    Finish (optional)

Wax, oil, lacquer or paint, in a finish you choose. Or take the bare piece home and we'll send you the kit to finish it yourself.

  5. 05

    Collect or have delivered

Pick up at Crossley Mills, or arrange delivery across West Yorkshire. The piece returns ready to live with for another lifetime.

What we strip

From a single Victorian door to a churchful of pews.
